Welcome to Oyadomari’s Lab

The Ultimate goal of life science is to understand biological phenomena and overcome diseases. However, to achieve this, basic research that aims to decipher the underlying mechanisms and functions of life is imperative as it paves the way for the development of novel therapeutics.

Our research is focused on understanding how protein homeostasis (proteostasis) is maintained in living organisms and how its disruption can lead to various diseases. Specifically, we are interested in elucidating the mechanisms underlying the unfolded protein response (UPR) and integrated stress response (ISR), both of which have been implicated in the pathogenesis of a wide range of diseases. By uncovering the intricacies of these stress response pathways, we hope to contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of human diseases.

We cordially welcome students and collaborators who share our vision and are keen on participating in our research efforts.

Research

We have been conducting research on Unfolded Protein Response (UPR) since our discovery that ER stress is involved in the development of diabetes. We have expanded our scope to include the study of the integrated stress response (ISR), which shares a component of UPR. Our goal is to utilize our understanding of the regulation of these stress responses to potentially develop new treatments for various diseases.
